So today the foodnetwork came to work and gave us delicious moon pies. They were to die for!
Of course they were made by some fabulous chef and then flown in from Maine. Go figure.
But how cool would it be to be able to cook these treats. Maybe one day I will try.
As of now I love the upfront season in advertising. Sooo much fun! Everyday is like Christmas. Today the moonpies made the 1 1/2 presentation fly by. I was def hyper after all of the sugar.. that is for sure.

I have always loved reading magazines and analyzing the copy and photos of advertisements. I have came up with some of my own tag lines. I have been playing around with some of the copy I would use and here is what I have came up with…

Every year I am super pumped to watch the Super Bowl commercials. I am obviously more excited to watch those than the actual game. For the last four years of college the next day of class would be used to analyze the ads. This year I do miss getting together and replaying the advertisements to analyze. It is like a get out of jail free card. No papers, no homework, and no boring lectures.
However, I started to think what would we talk about…. Sorry to be a Debbi Downer but this years commercials really sucked.. Personally the only ones I found funny were the Doritos commercials and not even all of them! I will give the little kid that slaps the man who tries to eat his Doritos credit. But come on this is the Super Bowl for god sakes. This is the time to shine for companies. The one time of the year where everyone is actually paying attention to the commercials! No TIVO today companies. Get with the PROGRAM. I was really disappointed by Bud Light. Their commercials almost put me to sleep. Not even funny just plain corny. This year in class I believe the lecture would go something like this ……
“Why 2010’s Super Bowl Commercials Sucked (you tube videos provided).”
1.) Where was the creativity ? Creative or just plain corny. I believe corny. I can not even point out a commercial that was creative. I mean the Doritos commercials were somewhat funny, but creative no. They did not even try to tie the commercials together. They were funny but they should have gave them a theme or came up with some new idea.
They needed to try to draw the audience to the internet. Everyone is doing it (the internet). These companies are missing the point. Hello You Tube is generation Y’s new god along with facebook, twitter, blogger, tumber, and the list goes on. Also, please just don’t paste your website at the end of your commercial and expect consumers to go to it. That is what shocked me the most. I honestly almost laughed that companies are spending so much money and they can not even figure that one out. For example I understand one year “Go Daddy” had the racy commercial with that girl from Nascar (Danica Patrick). That drew people to the internet. Why? Because people had no idea what the commercial was about. It had never been done before. But HELLO that has been done before now. People understand you are trying to get them to come to your website to buy your product. People are not as dumb as you think. But make your commercial interesting or engaging enough that consumers are actually going to sit down and visit your website, because I guarantee people are not going to this year.
2.) Where the hell were the brand connections ?
Wait you mean I need to make a brand connection? So these companies are spending all of this money on Super Bowl commercials and I can not even figure out what company the commercial is talking about. That is an Epic Fail for these companies and the advertising agencies representing them.
I get it. You are having a beach party with your bud light because you are stranded on some island.
Q. ) This makes me want to drink bud light because……
A.) 1. ) Well I would drink Budlight because there was no other beer offered at the party… Who knows what I would have drank if there was a blue moon keg sitting next to bud lights lame fridge full of cold ones. Plus my friend Kelsey made a good point. They should have really thought about this one first. What are they going to do when the bud light runs out? They are going to be stranded on that stupid island all hungover with no Advil or fresh water. Good luck with that….
Overall I could go on with other reasons why this year Super Bowl ads feel short of other years but I really do not want to bore you. I was just a little sad : (

Since I have started working for two places in May, I have had the opportunity to use my creative abilities for two local businesses. I have got the chance to actually create billboards, direct mail campaigns, business cards, business processes, newspaper/magazine advertisements, and radio copy. It definitely has been a very fun experience. I love working on a project and being able to see the outcome. I have always been in love with marketing but I really get to use my creative abilities in advertising. I believe creativity is crucial for any business. Things are constantly changing and everyone always needs new ideas! So even if you are not physically creating something, use your mind to come up with a new innovative idea! Your boss will be impressed!
